A Relaxing Birthday Stay at The Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay

For my mom’s birthday this year, I planned a one-night stay at The Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay, and it turned out to be the perfect gift. I wanted something easy and thoughtful, and this trip checked all the boxes.

One of the best parts is how close it is to San Francisco. It’s about an hour drive from the city, but once you arrive, it feels calm and removed. The property is beautiful and set right along the coast, with walking paths and ocean views in every direction.

We went in March, and it ended up being a rainy weekend, which honestly made the whole experience feel even cozier. The rooms were one of my favorite parts of the stay. They are spacious, comfortable, and really well designed. The beds were incredibly cozy, and it felt like a place you actually want to relax in, not just sleep and leave.

Even with the rain, we went on a walk around the property, and it was still so pretty. Everything felt quiet and peaceful, with the sound of the ocean in the background.

That evening, we enjoyed happy hour on the patio by the fireplace. The wine included by the property was such a nice touch, and sitting by the fire with a glass of wine felt like the perfect way to wind down. We had a great dinner, followed by breakfast the next morning, another walk, and then headed home.

It was a short trip, but The Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay made it feel really complete. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for an easy getaway, a birthday gift, or a simple reset close to San Francisco.
